The museum was inaugurated in 1962 following the donation of a group of carriages and other equipment belonging to Count Pieralberto Conti of Civitanova Marche. The collection was subsequently enlarged with donations from other families in the area and now comprises 22 carriages displayed in 3 rooms. In the first room there are 7 early 20th century sporting carriages from the Conti donation: a half-open Phaeton, an open Phaeton, a Tilbury, a Dog-car, a Squelette and a Duck. Along the walls is a rich collection of reins, saddles, bridles, whips, bits and harnesses, as well as various publications on horsemanship and interesting period photographs.
In a second room, on one side, there is a "Break" with roof and two travelling carriages from the 16th or 17th centuries, both in perfect condition, forming part of the Ceccaroni donation; on the other side there are 5 exibits (a Break, a Coupé, a Landau, a Milord and a Duck) from the Guarnieri-Roberti donation. In the third room there is a Coupé donated by Doctor Luigi Pianesi and 5 pieces from the Sinistraro donation. There are also two individual items: an 18th century sedan chair, used to carry ladies to the theatre, and another intended for invalids.
